If you need a bistro or bar in the north of Hamburg, Germany near the airport the BRABAND Bistro & Wein might be your choice – it is located directly at a bridge leading over the Alster. We went there because it was located between our hotel and the Sporthalle Hamburg. Continue reading “Alster bar”
An der Werrabrücke
The Café an der Werrabrücke can be found at one of the best locations at Hann. Münden, Germany: from inside you can watch the old stone bridge over river Werra. The area along the river – the Dielengraben – has been redesigned recently and is now home to two outdoor parties (the ‘Dielengrabenfest‘ and the ‘Brückenfest am Dielengraben‘). Continue reading “An der Werrabrücke”
Pinke Kuh
The most unexpected ice cream parlor ever. The Eisdiele Pinke Kuh is located between two industrial zones in the city quarter Grone of Göttingen, Germany and is integrated into a tree nursery. If you find your way here you can discover nice flavors of ice cream and they also got vegan sorts. Continue reading “Pinke Kuh”
Björns konditori
We were arriving with the ferry to Trelleborg, Sweden at 7.30 am. Having breakfast on board was not an option for us as we were traveling with our child and typically need more time for breakfast than would be available. Therefore we were looking for breakfast somewhere near the ferry harbour. Continue reading “Björns konditori”
Stadtbäckerei
The Stadtbäckerei & Konditorei Mengel is my favorite bakery in Hann. Münden, Germany. And that is not only because they produce great rolls and cake or because they have friendly staff – they always donate food for charity events in the city.
Spiegelburg / Zella
At the river Werra near Laubach, Hann. Münden, Germany you can find the restaurant Spiegelburg (also known as Zella) which is named after the ruin of a castle located not far away. They operate a camping area and a hotel in a quiet area away from civilization. The owners come from the Netherlands and that is not only visible by the flag in front of the restaurant. Continue reading “Spiegelburg / Zella”
Am Sandmarkt
The Café am Sandmarkt is a small coffee bar in Hann. Münden, Germany next to the old bridge over river Werra. From the outside the building rather looks like a butchery but inside it is decorated with old furniture. Don’t worry if it looks full – there is a second room in the back. Continue reading “Am Sandmarkt”
Pasteis de Belém
It seems to be always crowded: the shop Pasteis de Belém in Lisboas city quarter Belém not far away from the famous Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. It might be because it is so close to the tourist attractions, because it is named in so many guidebooks or because of its products. Continue reading “Pasteis de Belém”
Linha d‘áqua
When walking through a city like Lisboa, Portugal you’ll need a drink and a snack now and then. We found the restaurants in museums to be a good place for that, but one of the simplest, nicest and cheapest eateries was the Linha d’áqua.
Café Extrablatt
We stumbled open the Café Extrablatt in Kaiserslautern, Germany in search for a place to sit down and have a coffee. Somehow I had the feeling of having been there already – and then a understood that this is a bar with a franchise system. Okay, so it isn’t unique – but it is a cosy place with a nice interior design in US-American style and therefore fitting well to the city influenced by the nearby Ramstein Air Base, the European headquarter of the US forces.
