At the river Werra near Laubach, Hann. Münden, Germany you can find the restaurant Spiegelburg (also known as Zella) which is named after the ruin of a castle located not far away. They operate a camping area and a hotel in a quiet area away from civilization. The owners come from the Netherlands and that is not only visible by the flag in front of the restaurant.
They have a beer garden on a terrace with good views on river Werra. There they serve a limited number of meals like salmon, chicken and different burgers – but also pancakes and some dishes from the Netherlands. It’s the best place in the region if you want to eat Frikandel Spezial (if you ever visited the Netherlands you will know).
You can get here for lunch but also for a coffee break: they’ve got cake and ice cream. And you can start here for a nice walk through the Glasebachtal or to the ruins of the former castle Spiegelburg. I saw this place many times when passing by in a car – but I admit I totally underestimated it. A nice place for a weekend trip!
