The Kaiserpfalz in Goslar, Germany is the most important and iconic building of the city. It is a royal palace from medieval times, built in the 11th century CE. It consists of different buildings and was used by different emperors over time until 1253. Fires and natural deterioration destroyed the buildings until restauration works started in 1868. When arriving at the magnificent city center of Goslar, Germany you see that it is totally oriented towards tourism. The international airport Basel-Mulhouse (brand name “EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg“) is something special: it dates back to 1946, is located in Saint-Louis, France and is operated by two states (France, Switzerland). It is 3,5 km afar from Basel, Switzerland and 20 km from Mulhouse, France. As it has also importance for the south-west of Germany the name of Freiburg im Breisgau was added in 1987. The Theater der Nacht (“theatre of the night”) is a puppet theatre in Northeim, Germany. It has its special atmosphere as it is located within an old fire station which received a magical appearance. Every detail in the building and especially in the fire hose drying tower is well designed. Let’s face it: when it comes to running sushi in Kassel, Germany it’s not about quality. The Tokyo is especially famous for its lunch. People were smirking when I told them that I intend to spend a weekend in Jena, Germany. The city has quite a bad reputation and I must admit that I only went there because one of my favorite bands playing at the F-Haus in the city center of Jena. The JenTower is a skyscraper in Jena, Germany and with a height of 159 meters the highest building in the east of Germany. Within Jena it is absolutely outstanding – you can see the tower from everywhere in the city. The F-Haus in Jena, Germany is a concert hall and event location located in the heart of the city, not far away from the JenTower. It is a theatre-like hall with a framed stage. About 200 events a year take place here. Continue reading “The F-Haus”
The garden house of Friedrich Schiller is a small sight close to the city center of Jena, Germany. He lived here from 1797 to 1799 (before he moved to Weimar) and wrote parts of his works “Wallenstein” and “Maria Stuart” here.
