Botanischer Garten

Botanischer Garten, Kassel

The botanical garden of Kassel, Germany has seen many changes in its history. It is located in the city quarter Wehlheiden full of residential homes and close to the Park Schönfeld. In fact, it was part of the Park Schönfeld until 1912 when this 1.5 hectare large area was separated as a school garden.

Alter Botanischer Garten

Alter Botanischer Garten, Göttingen

The university of Göttingen, Germany operates three botanical gardens: the old one near the city center, an experimental botanical garden and a forest botanical garden. The last two are located at the northern campus in the city quarter Weende. The easiest access to the old one is next to the Auditorium at the Weender Tor.

Giant Glasshouses

Greenhouses, Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh

They are maybe the biggest attraction within the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Scotland: the glasshouses surrounding the Temperate Palm House built in 1858. You can see numerous plants in different glasshouses with diverse levels of temperature and humidity – including a giant water lily. Royal Botanic Garden

Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh

The Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh, Scotland is a wonderful place to relax. It was founded in 1670 for scientific reasons close to the Holyrood Palace. Today it is split up into four different locations showing specific collections. It is the second oldest botanical garden in the United Kingdom – after that of the university of Oxford. Botanical garden, Wroclaw

The botanical garden of Wrocław, Poland is located close to the cathedral of the town and belongs to the local university. You’ll find many wonderful trees and bushes, greenhouses with succulents and other plants. Forest & botanical garden

Forstbotanischer Garten, Hann. Münden

Until the year 1970 the small town of Hann. Münden, Germany was hosting the faculty of forestry of the “Georg-August-Universität” in nearby Göttingen. As a side effect from 1868 on a botanical garden and an arboretum were created close to the city center and opened in 1870. 100 years later it was moved to Göttingen-Weende (at the “Faßberg“).  Continue reading “Forest & botanical garden”

Roaming through Tivoli

Tivoli, Ljubljana

The Tivoli park is a five square km large park close to the center of Ljubljana, Slovenia, next to the Narodna galerija. It has been created in 1813 and features some nice alleys, flower-beds beautiful trees and some fountains.
