Skyline bar

I really love sky bars as they combine good drinks with good views, give you the chance for a nice picture of the city and you can really enjoy sundown. At Rīga, Latvia you just have to leave the old town in direction of the freedom monument, pass the orthodox church and than you’ll already see the hotel Latvia, belonging to the Radisson hotel chain. The old skyscraper is the highest building in that area and therefore the best spot for a bar like this.

Café Nordpol

It’s a simple but good coffee bar and restaurant close to the central campus of the university of Kassel, Germany. Located at the Gottschalkstraße just 100 meters afar from the main lecture buildings this place is often crowded with students. They offer seats inside but also have a medium size outdoor terrace where you can sit next to the quiet street.

HermannS

At a street connecting Wilhelmshöher Allee and Königstor – the Hermannstraße (an area of Kassel, Germany where I wouldn’t really expect a bar) – you can find the HermannS. It is a mix of a modern cocktail bar and a folksy inn. They’ve got a rather large outdoor area and you can get good food and drinks.

Café Hurricane

If you’re coming to the Nordstadt auf Kassel, Germany you should plan a stop at the Café Hurricane north of the university and close to the Nordstadtpark. They’ve got seats in a winter garden and outside next to the street where you can watch the hustle and bustle. As I learned the Café Hurricane is well-known for two things: breakfast and börek.

Sky Garden

The latest insider tip if you want to combine good drinks with perfect views on the city of London, United Kingdom is the Sky Garden. It is a garden in the glassy top floor of the building 20 Fenchurch Street that is called walkie-talkie by the locals because of its shape. Within the Sky Garden you will find a bar and a restaurant. Between the Dvorac Petrovića and the unusual resurrection cathedral – but also not far away from the University of Crne Gore at Podgorica, Montenegro you can have a pitstop at the ‘PG akademija piva‘. It’s a brewery and a large restaurant serving not only craft beer but also great and very priceworthy food.

Sometimes you might be missing home when you’re away. It does not happen to me, but I fully understand. At Podgorica, Montenegro Germans have the chance to cure that – because of the nice hotel, bar and restaurant called ‘Marienplatz‘ (named after that famous place at München, Germany). It is located close to the Trg Republike.

Sky Tower

The Sky Tower is my most favorite place for watching sundown and having a drink at Tirana, Albania. It is a skyscraper at the city quarter Blloku and located close to the Rinia park and the river Lana. You can easily find it as it has a rotating restaurant on top that turns 360 degrees within an hour. If you want to dine there you should reserve in advance, but there is also a reservation-free bar on the top level.

The Mercato Metropolitano is a wonderful food court at Elephant & Castle, London. You can sit inside or outside and get drinks and food from numerous small shops. From burgers via Spätzle and burritos to gyoza. Everything that your heart might desire – and as a surplus they claim to be sustainable.
