We wanted to visit places in Köln and Bonn, Germany. Therefore we decided for a hotel in between: the H+ Hotel in Brühl. It is a former Ramada hotel now belonging to this new hotel chain. It states to be a four star hotel but it feels to be a bit less. Nevertheless we had a pleasant stay. Continue reading “Between Cologne and Bonn”

Maternushaus
I was looking for a hotel in Köln, Germany not too far away from the main railway station. As there seemed to be a fair in the city prices were up and I had to search a bit – and then the Catholic church came to rescue. One night at Alcatraz
What to do with an old jail close to the city center? A lot of cities (including my hometown Göttingen, Germany) have to solve this question as these facilities often get to small and are rebuilt outside of the city. Often monument conservation laws prevent to change too much of the building. In Kaiserslautern, Germany they found a good way without denying the former usage. Continue reading “One night at Alcatraz”
