Drehscheibe

B&B Hotel Göttingen-City, Germany

The B&B Hotel Göttingen-City is a new hotel near the center of Göttingen, Germany and it was the first hotel I booked at my birthplace – for my bachelor party. It is located at the old railway freight area on the grounds of the former turning platform; maybe that is also the reason for its round shape. Continue reading “Drehscheibe”

Butterflies & shabby chic

Schmetterlingspark, Uslar

I don’t know too many reasons to get to the small town of Uslar in Germany. It is not the most beautiful place on earth but it offers one speciality you don’t see that often: a butterfly park. From April to October you can be surrounded by huge tropical butterflies and enjoy another climate zone: the place was heated at the time of our visit to 29 degrees Celsius. Landcafé Gollart

Landcafé Gollart, Uslar

When we were at Uslar, Germany and looking for something to eat I remembered that many years ago I was at the local Bergbräu brewery and they had a good restaurant. But I found no information on the Internet. The first search result was a place briefly named Gollart – the locals’ short name for the Landcafé im Gasthaus Gollart. Brunch at the river

Flux - Biohotel im Werratal, Hann. Münden

There are not too many options for a good breakfast in Hann. Münden, Germany. Apart from the Aegidienkirche and the Stadtcafé you might consider the Flux – Biohotel im Werratal as a good location for that. On each first sunday every month they have a great brunch with a specific motto – and you should definitely book in advance. Continue reading “Brunch at the river”

Getting foreign currencies

GBP

Most often it is the most economic choice to get a foreign currency at your destination. Exchange rates are often better. But there are situations where you want to be prepared in advance: if you arrive at night, if you need to pay road toll after crossing the border by car and if your destination is a really exotic one. Modern towers

St. Martin, Kassel

The Martinskirche or St. Martin in Kassel, Germany is an iconic Protestant church. Its two modern towers attached to an old church in Gothic style can be seen from many parts of the city. Construction works started in 1364 and the church was opened in 1462. Since 1524 it is a Protestant church.

Indoor and outdoor

Markthalle, Kassel

If you’re looking for a farmer’s market in the center of Kassel, Germany the Markthalle is the right choice for you. It is located in the former Marstall from 1591 – an ancient horse stable. On saturdays you can find an outdoor market in front of it and inside you can buy from different shops on two levels.

Wald- und Abenteuerspielplatz Kattenbühl

Wald- und Abenteuerspielplatz Kattenbühl, Hann. Münden

The Wald- und Abenteuerspielplatz Kattenbühl is a playground in the forest close to Hann. Münden, Germany – near the road exiting the city quarter Kattenbühl and going to Laubach. It offers the possibility to have a barbecue with large groups and for children’s birthday parties. Continue reading “Wald- und Abenteuerspielplatz Kattenbühl”

Officially pimped

Franks Piraterie, Dransfeld

The restaurant “Franks Piraterie” is one of these places I normally wouldn’t go to. It is part of the camping area in Dransfeld, Germany not far away from the outdoor swimming pool of the city. Why to go there? The place was originally named “Tortes Inn” and had mainly the campers as guests. Continue reading “Officially pimped”
