If you’re looking for a farmer’s market in the center of Kassel, Germany the Markthalle is the right choice for you. It is located in the former Marstall from 1591 – an ancient horse stable. On saturdays you can find an outdoor market in front of it and inside you can buy from different shops on two levels.
Apart from buying vegetables, fruit and meat the locals also get here to eat small dishes at the numerous little restaurants within. It is also a good location to buy Ahle Wurscht, a traditional sausage not to be confounded with a salami. It is a local specialty the people of Northern Hesse are extremely proud of.
