In my youth it was impossible to go by car through Lower Saxony and not to here the radio advertisement for the “Vogelpark Walsrode” with its iconic jingle. But we never went to the biggest bird park in the world in the Lüneburg Heath, located near Walsrode, Germany. Morschen is a small town south of Melsungen, Germany. There you can find the cloister Haydau dating back to the year 1235 CE – beautifully preserved and now used for cultural events. If you’re looking for a beergarden in Hann. Münden, Germany the list of options isn’t too long. If you go a bit north to Hemeln, still belonging to Hann. Münden, there is a well-known and most-frequented one: the Gasthaus ‘Zur Fähre’. We decided to split our wedding festivities in two parts – beginning with the official part at the registry office now and the church wedding and party in the Tierpark Sababurg in August. The first part of this all took place at the old town hall in Göttingen, Germany – a place I’ve been to many times in my life. We just wanted to do this formal action: signing some paper, exchanging rings.

These days you can get strawberries everywhere. If you don’t want to simply buy them and have the fun of gathering yourself you can get to Göttingen, Germany and visit the strawberry fields of family Mecke. The new Turkish restaurant Istanbul in Hann. Münden seems to exist because of two reasons: first, the Lokanta – a famous Turkish restaurant – closed and second, the Bollywood – a fantastic Indian restaurant had to shut down. In every party night in Göttingen, Germany there comes the point in time where they play the last song in your favorite disco and you still don’t want to go home. In my youth we typically grabbed a kebab at Efes and took the last drink at the only suitable destination for that: the Déjà-vû. The Timberjacks is a new restaurant in the outskirts of Göttingen, Germany – close to the Kasseler Landstraße and the Kaufpark. It is like a Cafe del Sol for meat lovers – totally oriented towards people arriving by car. With plenty of parking lots and even though there is a bus stop close-by there isn’t even a foot path to the restaurant. Continue reading “Timberjacks”
The B&B Hotel Göttingen-City is a new hotel near the center of Göttingen, Germany and it was the first hotel I booked at my birthplace – for my bachelor party. I don’t know too many reasons to get to the small town of Uslar in Germany. It is not the most beautiful place on earth but it offers one speciality you don’t see that often: a butterfly park. From April to October you can be surrounded by huge tropical butterflies and enjoy another climate zone: the place was heated at the time of our visit to 29 degrees Celsius.
