If you need some fresh air and a walk in the sun at Bonn, Germany the Freizeitpark Rheinaue might be the right place. It is a green area outside of the city directly at the river Rhein. You’ll find vast green fields, small playgrounds, an artificial lake with boats, a Japanese garden, a restaurant and a beer garden.
There is a medium-size parking area directly next to the park – from there you can walk to all parts of the area. The fundament for this park has been laid by Bundesgartenschau 1979 – but there is not much from these times. I have the feeling that other cities made more out of old gardening show areas. There is no real highlight in this park that would stay in mind and there are not enough playground items.
