Is your last trip to Switzerland already too far away? If you want to enjoy some traditional Swiss meals the “Matterhorn-Stübli” is the place for you! Located in “Bad Wilhelmshöhe” close to the Schloss Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel, you can feel like rather being close to the Alps.

The Lokhalle in Göttingen, Germany is what its name refers to: the location of the former Eisenbahnausbesserungswerk Göttingen. Once upon a time, trains were brought into this long hall to be repaired. After the workshop was closed, this place was empty for a very long time – until it became an important entertainment center.

The first thing you recognize about the wine bar “Fröhlich” is that it is within the red light district of Stuttgart. But don’t worry, the area is only as wicked as a Swabian red light district can be. The place itself is absolutely traditional and has also a nice garden for summer times.

There are many reasons why you should go to Braunschweig. One of them is the beautiful old city center and especially when there is the famous Christmas market, the atmosphere is just great. If you need a middle-class but quite cheap hotel close to the city, the Frühlings-Hotel at the Bankplatz might be right for you. The double doors at the rooms give you the feeling to sleep safe and sound within a bank.

Okay, we should not really call it a restaurant – but it is a stylish eatery serving good-quality Turkish ravioli, called Mantı (yes, that is no “i” in the end); filled dumplings served with yoghurt, garlic and sumac. After visiting Istanbul I was looking for a place like this, even if the Mantı aren’t as small in size as typical.

Stuttgart is a big city with a lot to see. But at the end of the day, you have to relax your feet and refresh yourself. A good place for that is the SchwabenQuellen located at an event center (with Broadway musicals and a casino; 10 km away from the city center) near Stuttgart; I always come here when I’m on business trips to the city.

Another concert in Hannover, Germany led me (again) to the Kulturzentrum Faust, an event location in the old bedspring factory of Hannover. It is a lovely place for small and medium size concerts in Linden-Nord and if the weather is good you can sit outside and enjoy a beer and a slice of pizza.

Compared to my hometown, nightlife in Kassel is a bit limited. The Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, where most bars are, disappoints me – and the interesting spots like the Lolita bar are spread throughout the city. When it comes to concert locations there is one well known place – even outside of Kassel: The MusikTheater (or short: “MT”).

Travelling with childrens? Not far from Hann. Münden and Göttingen you can find the Sababurg, an ancient castle from the year 1334. It is named “Dornröschenschloss” after the famous tales of the Brothers Grimm. In fact, most people visit this place for the zoological garden close by.

Wolfsburg, Germany is a town in lower saxony founded officially as the Stadt des ‘Kraft durch Freude’-Wagens nahe Fallersleben for only one purpose: building cars. Volkswagen, the partly state-owned enterprise tries to make the city more worth living and has therefore built the Volkswagen Arena, home to the (Volkswagen supported) Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg.
