I received some recommendations for an Indian eatery in the center of Göttingen, Germany. At first I was wondering about the name: Bella Bollywood. Now I know it is because they are offering Indian and Italian food – besides the classic Schnitzel and chicken nuggets. Continue reading “Bella Bollywood”
Baklava & more
While I was on my way to the Neptunbad in Köln, Germany I found a Turkish eatery where people seemed to have good food on their plates and I decided to return after relaxing at the spa. Then I learned that Damla (a Turkish female name by the way) is a Baklava store – and the delicious warm food only an addition. Continue reading “Baklava & more “
Chasing Currywurst
I should name this post ‚The Great Currywurst Exodus of Cologne’. Last time I was at the Domstadt I enjoyed a restaurant that served different variations of high-quality Currywurst. As it is closed now I searched for alternatives but all entries in different recommendation lists were also closed. What’s happening here? Continue reading “Chasing Currywurst”
The Spinnrädl
There aren‘t too many old buildings in the center of Kaiserslautern, Germany – but there is one very nice old house. This oldest half-timbered house was first mentioned in 1742 but a stone states the year 1509 as its creation year. From 1896 on it contains a wine bar called „Spinnrädl“ (meaning spinning wheel in the local dialect) which is today a famous restaurant. Continue reading “The Spinnrädl”

The TINTO is a nice tapas and wine bar in Nürnberg, Germany. It is located next to the railway museum of Deutsche Bahn and it also has an entrance from there. Since 1298
When it comes to event locations, Kassel (Germany) has a lot to offer. Besides the fair grounds, the Stadthalle and the buildings of the documenta there are different smaller places. One of them is the Renthof directly at the river Fulda. It is a part of the former cloister of the Carmelites (named after Mount Carmel) from the 13th century CE. It is connected to the former church Brüderkirche next to it. Continue reading “Since 1298”
Greek surprise
There are Greek restaurants in Germany like sand on the beach – but to find a good one isn’t always easy. When we arrived in Essen, Germany we tried to find something to eat between the motorway exit and our hotel. But there was nothing, not even one of those fastfood chains spread throughout the republic. Luckily in the backyard of our hotel we found the backdoor to a restaurant. Continue reading “Greek surprise”
Ratsbrauhaus
The Ratsbrauhaus in Hann. Münden, Germany is a restaurant located under the old town hall of the city. It is a nice place which offers also enough space for groups of different sizes. They offer the traditional German meals you’ll find in breweries: meat loafs, burgers, steaks. Continue reading “Ratsbrauhaus”
Parlamento
When we received the keys for our away home in Cuxhaven, Germany we were quite happy: by incident we found a place directly at the old center of the city quarter Döse – with a bakery, a bank and two restaurants next door. One of them was the Parlamento – an Italian ristorante serving good pizza and pasta. Continue reading “Parlamento”
