The Sporthalle Hamburg is a multifunctional indoor arena for different kinds of sports in the north of Hamburg, Germany. I guess it is very good for sport events – but we came there for a concert of George Ezra supported by Ten Tonnes. It will not become my favorite concert location as the sound and the air ventilation weren’t good.
The Bürgerweide is a large area next to the main railway station of Bremen, Germany. It was once what its name says: a meadow (‘Weide‘) where citizens (‘Bürger‘) could place two to four cows. The Freilichtbühne Tannenkamp high above Hann. Münden, Germany is a wonderful place for cultural events. It is located in a beautiful forest and has a stage, a house for today’s necessary technical equipment, simple seats and two rings around made of stone where you can also sit. The Burgruine Sichelnstein can be found at the village Sichelnstein belonging to Staufenberg, Germany. It has been built before the year 933 CE and has the shape of a horseshoe. Today it is used only for cultural events and it is closed for visitors outside of events – you can only walk around. Continue reading “Burgruine Sichelnstein”
The Alter Schlachthof is a concert hall in Dresden, Germany. It was opened in 1871 as the central slaughterhouse of the city. In 1907 a new slaughterhouse was opened on the grounds now used for fairs and therefore the Alter Schlachthof was closed. The buildings were used as a storage area by different companies.

The Amphitheater in Gelsenkirchen, Germany is a concert location directly at the Rhein-Herne-Kanal and within a nice park. It is also not too far away from Essen, Germany. The place is built in the shape of a classic amphitheatre but made of concrete. The stage is next to the water and the only place with a roof – you should therefore hope to have good weather conditions. We came here for an open air concert of a ska/punk band from Oberhausen and Mülheim an der Ruhr called “Sondaschule“. Continue reading “The Amphitheater”
The F-Haus in Jena, Germany is a concert hall and event location located in the heart of the city, not far away from the JenTower. It is a theatre-like hall with a framed stage. About 200 events a year take place here. Continue reading “The F-Haus”
The “Zentralmensa” is the biggest university canteen in Göttingen, Germany. It is operated by the Studentenwerk Göttingen and serves a lot of meals to students during daytime. And sometimes the foyer of the canteen is used as a place for concerts – not a very special atmosphere but sufficient space and a good infrastructure. Continue reading “Tame monsters”
Town halls in Germany always seem to be from the 1970s and to be built out of washed-out concrete. The one in Gießen, Germany is no exception but it is well placed in the inner city center and has a very good infrastructure surrounding it. Try the car park at the city hall, if you arrive by car! The Centrum in Erfurt, Germany is a music club in the capital city of the federal state of Thuringia. It is located close to the main railway station and the Juri-Gagarin-Ring. It is a small but wonderful place for concerts directly in the city center of Erfurt – easily reachable on foot.
