The TINTO is a nice tapas and wine bar in Nürnberg, Germany. It is located next to the railway museum of Deutsche Bahn and it also has an entrance from there. It is a restaurant and classic pub located directly at the Caledonian canal. You can get traditional Scottish dishes here and a good selection of ales and malt whiskies. It is one of these wonderful dark pubs with old furniture in Edinburgh, Scotland: Bennets bar in the Leven Street, opened in 1839. They offer a wide range of whiskies, ales and some Scottish meals. If you’re unsure what spirit to choose – the barkeeper knows best and can recommend the right drink for you. One of these places with a special atmosphere I could spend hours in. We went through the city center of Edinburgh, Scotland to find a highly-recommended bar close to the university – only to find it closed. But luckily next to it Andrew Usher & Co., a student bar with many different beers on tap was open. In every party night in Göttingen, Germany there comes the point in time where they play the last song in your favorite disco and you still don’t want to go home. In my youth we typically grabbed a kebab at Efes and took the last drink at the only suitable destination for that: the Déjà-vû. Once upon a time there was a famous rock music club in Göttingen, Germany: the “Outpost“. It was indeed an outpost in an industrial zone of the city. Famous bands like the Bloodhound Gang or the Guano Apes played here until in 2003 the rental agreement wasn’t prolongued by the landlord. Continue reading “Last night in exile”
This area of Göttingen, Germany was once a black spot: the “Güterbahnhofstraße” was known for just two things – the freight terminal (including cargo-based traffic on road and rail) and the red-light district. Everything changes over time, the area was developed and one of the buildings close to the tracks has been refurbished and now hosts an Italian restaurant, bar and discotheque: the “Amavi“.

Shops come and go in the inner city center of Hann. Münden, Germany. The town is mostly frequented by day tourists during summertime and that is why some shops within the side streets have to fight to survive.
