If you’re searching for an Irish pub at Kassel, Germany you will definitely end up at The Shamrock on Kassels Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. It is a lovely classic Irish Pub with live music, live soccer, karaoke parties and famous pub-quiz evenings.
Over some years I had the fantastic situation of having my office directly above the pub. It is operated by nice Irish guys and they serve good Guinness, Snakebite, Cider, but also cocktails and lots of shots. It is overwhelmingly crowded on St. Patrick’s day but always worth a visit.
In 2022 the pub moved from the one side of the Bürgermeister-Brunner-Straße (the Kaufburg building) onto the other and into the beautiful former post office. The owner, Brendan Kennedy, was born in Galway and parts of the interior have been acquired from O‘Connell’s bar – a pub legend in his former hometown. It includes the bar at which Ed Sheeran shot his famous Galway girl music video and at which I also already sat when beeing in Ireland.
