Shops come and go in the inner city center of Hann. Münden, Germany. The town is mostly frequented by day tourists during summertime and that is why some shops within the side streets have to fight to survive. After the pet shop at the Rosenstraße was closed it was empty for a while – but now a new coffee shop popped up: the “Herz über Kopf“. Continue reading “Herz über Kopf”
Antico & Abruzzo
You can’t overlook the hotel and Italian restaurant “Antico & Abruzzo” in Hann. Münden, Germany at night: the façade of the house located in the inner city center is beautifully enlightened and on two levels the team of Toni Angelilli serves plain but good Italian food – from antipasti over pasta to pizza. Continue reading “Antico & Abruzzo”
Schlaf schön
One of the more remote hotels in Hann. Münden, Germany – the hotel “Schlaf schön” (“sleep well“) is located next to the tavern “Letzter Heller” at the river “Werra“; four kilometers away from the city. It is a good place for a night if you travel by bike along the river or if you enjoy a family event at the tavern. Continue reading “Schlaf schön”
Letzter Heller
The tavern “Letzter Heller” (“Last haler“) is an inn and restaurant close to Hann. Münden, Germany. It is located at the place where the stream “Ilksbach” runs into the river “Werra” – today easily findable because of the hydro-electric power plant in front and the motorway and train bridge above. Continue reading “Letzter Heller”
Train into the mountain
There are a lot of old mines in the Harz mountains you can visit – but not many offer to enter them by train. At the mining museum in Lautenthal, Germany (belonging to Langelsheim near Goslar) you can in addition also try to go by boat into the dark. This is possible because the miners established a multiple kilometers long transport system with small boats throughtout the mountains. Continue reading “Train into the mountain”
Korean barbecue
Traditional Korean food served under red neon lights in Berlin, Germany. The restaurant ‘Kimchi Princess’ is a very well styled place to have an excellent dinner close to the Kottbusser Tor. It’s authentic and you can taste yourself through Deopbap and Bibimbap up to Korean barbecues with different ingredients. Continue reading “Korean barbecue”
Monkey bar
Everything changed at the railway station “Berlin Zoologischer Garten” as the long-distance trains started to miss this place and to stop at the new main railway station of Berlin, Germany. When I returned here after a few years of absence, I didn’t recognize where I am at the beginning. The most ugly buildings have been rebuilt and event the public spaces have changed pretty much. Continue reading “Monkey bar”
Greek cuisine
We all have seen numerous Greek restaurants during our lifes. And after an endless count of Gyros portions it is always a pleasure to visit a Greek eatery which doesn’t offer this mainstream food. One of these places is the Mylos in Berlin, Germany – a wonderful restaurant with a reduced interior design in the district of Charlottenburg, not far away from the Funkturm. Continue reading “Greek cuisine”
Ethiopian home
I like Ethiopian food: the special kind of bread, the idea of putting huge plates in the center of the table for everyone to eat with his or her hands. Most often these restaurants are not designed very well inside, but that doesn’t matter, because mostly the gentle hosts make up the wonderful atmosphere. Continue reading “Ethiopian home”
Sylter Hof
One of these hotels you don’t book if you see the pictures on the Internet. I booked it, because I had a seminar at this place. But in the end the hotel was much better then it had looked on pictures. It has been refurbished on the inside and the location is unbeatable: only five minutes on foot to the Wittenbergplatz and the Kaufhaus des Westens. Continue reading “Sylter Hof”
