Cervejaria Portugalia

Portugália, Lisboa

We came to the Cais de Sodré in Lisboa, Portugal as it is supposed to be a good area at the river Tejo with many restaurants. As it was winter most locations were closed and we found a high-quality seafood restaurant – but we had the feeling of being underdressed. Continue reading “Cervejaria Portugalia”

Burgeria

Burgeria, Göttingen

Burger bars are popping up like mushrooms throughout Germany. Some are really good, most are worth a visit and offer a good concept but are like food trucks with a stable location. The Burgeria in Göttingen, Germany is located in the Jüdenstraße close to party hotspots like the Wilhelmsplatz. Continue reading “Burgeria”

Knights of the black pudding

Feinkostfleischerei Schumann, Hann. Münden

The Feinkostfleischerei Schumann (also known as Ritter der Rotwurst) is one of the things making living in Hann. Münden, Germany great. It is a butcher’s shop with a French bistro and a restaurant in the pedestrian zone close to the old town hall.

Two and a half hours

YOYO Sushi & Grill, Kassel

Every time I get to the Karlsplatz in Kassel, Germany I remember that this city has some nice hidden places you normally don’t get to. And next to it in the backyard of the CineStar cinema you can find a sushi restaurant that seems to be less frequented than the others in the city center. Continue reading “Two and a half hours”

Breakfast at the Weser

Klostermühle Bursfelde, Hann. Münden

The mill once belonging to the Kloster Bursfelde in Bursfelde, near Hann. Münden, Germany is today well-known to the locals because of the hotel and restaurant located inside. It lies close to the rivers Nieme and Weser and has a terrace with good views on the water (even so it is next to a road). Continue reading “Breakfast at the Weser”

Erlenhof

Bauernhofcafé Erlenhof, Beverungen

If your looking for a good piece of cake and a hot cup of coffee you might like the Bauernhofcafé Erlenhof in Beverungen, Germany. It is a farm on a hill close to the river Weser where you can enjoy your coffee break or a simple lunch. Continue reading “Erlenhof”

Gleis 1

Bistro voie 1, Hann. Münden

Okay, the name of the bistro at the railway station of Hann. Münden, Germany isn’t very creative: I’ve seen many bars and restaurants at railway stations named “track 1“, “Gleis 1” or in this case the French version “voie 1“. But it is good that it is there! Continue reading “Gleis 1”

Bella Bollywood

Bella Bollywood, Göttingen

I received some recommendations for an Indian eatery in the center of Göttingen, Germany. At first I was wondering about the name: Bella Bollywood. Now I know it is because they are offering Indian and Italian food – besides the classic Schnitzel and chicken nuggets. Continue reading “Bella Bollywood”

Baklava & more

Mantı

While I was on my way to the Neptunbad in Köln, Germany I found a Turkish eatery where people seemed to have good food on their plates and I decided to return after relaxing at the spa. Then I learned that Damla (a Turkish female name by the way) is a Baklava store – and the delicious warm food only an addition. Continue reading “Baklava & more “

Chasing Currywurst

Weltmeister Currywurst & Pommes, Köln

I should name this post ‚The Great Currywurst Exodus of Cologne’. Last time I was at the Domstadt I enjoyed a restaurant that served different variations of high-quality Currywurst. As it is closed now I searched for alternatives but all entries in different recommendation lists were also closed. What’s happening here? Continue reading “Chasing Currywurst”
