Most people that know the Indian restaurant Madras Vanakam in Göttingen, Germany seem to know it from ordering food online: it appears in all the online ordering websites. But not so many people seem to visit the restaurant itself and that’s because it is located between a residential zone and a not so beautiful industrial area. Continue reading “Excursion to India”
La Riviera
It’s just a pizzeria but it is one of the most child-friendly restaurants I’ve been to: the La Riviera at the harbour of Kladow, belonging to Berlin, Germany. You can get there by bus from Berlin Zoologischer Garten (bus X34) or by ship from Wannsee (ferry F10). The restaurant is located directly at the harbour and you can’t miss it. Continue reading “La Riviera”
Lavanderia vecchia
As my birthday was during the time of our stay in Berlin, Germany, I was looking for a special dinner opportunity. I was thinking about some Israeli food at the Neni Berlin, but the restaurant was fully booked during the peak hours. Therefore I was searching on the Internet and found the Italian restaurant Lavanderia vecchia (old laundry) and decided to give it a try. Continue reading “Lavanderia vecchia”
Zur Fähre
If you’re looking for a beergarden in Hann. Münden, Germany the list of options isn’t too long. If you go a bit north to Hemeln, still belonging to Hann. Münden, there is a well-known and most-frequented one: the Gasthaus ‘Zur Fähre’. Lots of bikers get here on sunny days for a drink, a piece of cake or a #Strammer Max’ (bread with sausage and egg) under old trees. Continue reading “Zur Fähre”
Restaurant or diner?
The new Turkish restaurant Istanbul in Hann. Münden seems to exist because of two reasons: first, the Lokanta – a famous Turkish restaurant – closed and second, the Bollywood – a fantastic Indian restaurant had to shut down. The Istanbul now serves the customers of the Lokanta in the rooms of the former Bollywood restaurant. Continue reading “Restaurant or diner?”
Cute & remote
If you want to stay close to Loch Ness the Inch Hotel in Fort Augustus, Scotland might be the right choice. I found it to be a pearl of a hotel in its unique style. It is located outside the town on a small hill with good views on Loch Ness and some Highland Cattle (Kyloe) next to it. It looks a bit old-fashioned on the inside but I really liked this traditional style. Continue reading “Cute & remote”
Timberjacks
The Timberjacks is a new restaurant in the outskirts of Göttingen, Germany – close to the Kasseler Landstraße and the Kaufpark. It is like a Cafe del Sol for meat lovers – totally oriented towards people arriving by car. With plenty of parking lots and even though there is a bus stop close-by there isn’t even a foot path to the restaurant. Continue reading “Timberjacks”
Landcafé Gollart
When we were at Uslar, Germany and looking for something to eat I remembered that many years ago I was at the local Bergbräu brewery and they had a good restaurant. But I found no information on the Internet. The first search result was a place briefly named Gollart – the locals’ short name for the Landcafé im Gasthaus Gollart. Continue reading “Landcafé Gollart”
Brunch at the river
There are not too many options for a good breakfast in Hann. Münden, Germany. Apart from the Aegidienkirche and the Stadtcafé you might consider the Flux – Biohotel im Werratal as a good location for that. On each first sunday every month they have a great brunch with a specific motto – and you should definitely book in advance. Continue reading “Brunch at the river”
Indoor and outdoor
If you’re looking for a farmer’s market in the center of Kassel, Germany the Markthalle is the right choice for you. It is located in the former Marstall from 1591 – an ancient horse stable. On saturdays you can find an outdoor market in front of it and inside you can buy from different shops on two levels.
