Bad Harzburg is a small town within the Harz mountain range in northern Germany. It is a spa town, offers a casino and you can go by teleferic to the castle mountain above. Since 2015 it has another attraction – the “Baumwipfelpfad“; you can take a one kilometer long walk throughout the treetops of a forest.

This area of Göttingen, Germany was once a black spot: the “Güterbahnhofstraße” was known for just two things – the freight terminal (including cargo-based traffic on road and rail) and the red-light district. Everything changes over time, the area was developed and one of the buildings close to the tracks has been refurbished and now hosts an Italian restaurant, bar and discotheque: the “Amavi“.

Going to church on a sunday morning was never so pleasant than in Hann. Münden, Germany. That is because of a church close to the city center that has been transformed into a coffee bar where you can have a nice breakfast or a piece of cake. It’s quite a strange feeling to dine on an old altar, but this place has its own very special atmosphere.
The church of St. Blasius is located on the central place of Hann. Münden, Germany. It is a gothic style church with a nice tower where once warders kept watch to protect the city. The first remains in this place date back to the year 1000, but the current church has been built in three different steps between 1216 and 1519. Continue reading “Converted gothic church”
Shops come and go in the inner city center of Hann. Münden, Germany. The town is mostly frequented by day tourists during summertime and that is why some shops within the side streets have to fight to survive. You can’t overlook the hotel and Italian restaurant “Antico & Abruzzo” in Hann. Münden, Germany at night: the façade of the house located in the inner city center is beautifully enlightened and on two levels the team of Toni Angelilli serves plain but good Italian food – from antipasti over pasta to pizza. One of the more remote hotels in Hann. Münden, Germany – the hotel “Schlaf schön” (“sleep well“) is located next to the tavern “Letzter Heller” at the river “Werra“; four kilometers away from the city. The tavern “Letzter Heller” (“Last haler“) is an inn and restaurant close to Hann. Münden, Germany. It is located at the place where the stream “Ilksbach” runs into the river “Werra” – today easily findable because of the hydro-electric power plant in front and the motorway and train bridge above. There are a lot of old mines in the Harz mountains you can visit – but not many offer to enter them by train. At the mining museum in Lautenthal, Germany (belonging to Langelsheim near Goslar) you can in addition also try to go by boat into the dark. This is possible because the miners established a multiple kilometers long transport system with small boats throughtout the mountains. Continue reading “Train into the mountain”
Traditional Korean food served under red neon lights in Berlin, Germany. The restaurant ‘Kimchi Princess’ is a very well styled place to have an excellent dinner close to the Kottbusser Tor.
