Steinberg-Drahtseilbahn
It is hard to imagine nowadays but once there was a 6 kilometers long ropeway high above the largest city quarter of Hann. Münden, Germany: the Kattenbühl. The ropeway began near the Kleiner Steinberg, went nearly straight through the forest and ended close to the railway station of Hann. Münden at Schulzenrode. Kleiner Steinberg
The Kleiner Steinberg within the Kaufunger Wald close to Hann. Münden, Germany is a 541 meters high mountain consisting of basalt and brown coal. Both materials were mined there for centuries – until 1961. Mittelalterliches Dorf Steinrode
Close to the Waldpädagogikzentrum Haus Steinberg and not far from the Kleiner Steinberg mountain you can find a medieval wooden village. It exists from 2004 on and is an educational and not archaeological project. School classes can spend a week there, help to construct the village and learn how life was at that time. Buddeleichenhütte
The Buddeleichenhütte in Hann. Münden is just a protective hut for hikers high above the city quarter Kattenbühl in the Kaufunger Wald. It might be a target destination for a short walk along the Eselsbach but it is most often a waypoint when continuing via the Fuhrmannstein to the Rinderstall (for some cake and a cup of coffee) or the Hühnerfeld (where you can walk through a swamp on a wooden path). The reason why the two stones have been placed at the Steinbachtal near the ‘Franzosenbrücke‘ at Hann. Münden, Germany is a bad one: two merchants have been killed there in 1614, Johann Kessler and Georg Schmalkalden von Saltz. They have been robbed and died there on their way back home. The Burgruine Sichelnstein can be found at the village Sichelnstein belonging to Staufenberg, Germany. It has been built before the year 933 CE and has the shape of a horseshoe.
