Villa Lido

Villa Lido, Klagenfurt

The Villa Lido is a good Italian restaurant at the shore of lake Wörthersee in Klagenfurt, Austria. I really enjoyed sitting outdoors and watch sundown over the lake. To reach this place you’ll have to leave the city center of Klagenfurt and take a bus from Heiligengeistplatz to “Schiffsanlegestelle”. If you walk straight on along the lake for 100 meters you can’t miss it. Continue reading “Villa Lido”

The Lindwurm

Lindwurm, Klagenfurt

The Lindwurm statue can be found in the center of Klagenfurt, Austria and it is the icon of the city. You can find it on public buildings, cars and envelopes. A myth tells that in the area now covered by Klagenfurt there was once a dragon-like giant worm causing people walking into this area to disappear.  Continue reading “The Lindwurm”

Lendkanal & Lendhafen

Lendkanal, Klagenfurt

The center of Klagenfurt, Austria is located about four kilometers afar from the Wörthersee. To bring water to the city fortifications and to make transport and trade easier, the Lendkanal was created in the 16th century CE. This artifical waterway starts close to the castle Maria Loretto at the shore of the Wörthersee and ends near the Heiligengeistplatz in the city center. Continue reading “Lendkanal & Lendhafen”

Hotel Plattenwirt, Klagenfurt

The hotel “Plattenwirt” is a four star hotel in Klagenfurt, Austria. It offers nice spacious rooms with balconies or terraces. It is special because of its location: it can be found at a remote place in Klagenfurt but it is very close to the Wörthersee – the famous lake creating a beautiful panorama. Fortress, Mozart & Bosna

Salzburg, Austria

For travelling to work every day I chose to get a BahnCard 100 from Deutsche Bahn, giving me the opportunity to travel for free on weekends throughout Germany. Two destinations came to my mind because they allow the longest journeys for me because the railway stations located in other countries officially belong to the German network: Basel, Switzerland and Salzburg, Austria. Continue reading “Fortress, Mozart & Bosna”
