Fortress, Mozart & Bosna

For travelling to work every day I chose to get a BahnCard 100 from Deutsche Bahn, giving me the opportunity to travel for free on weekends throughout Germany. Two destinations came to my mind because they allow the longest journeys for me because the railway stations located in other countries officially belong to the German network: Basel, Switzerland and Salzburg, Austria.

Salzburg is located close to the border to Germany at the river Salzach. It was founded in the year 696 CE and is nowadays the fourth largest city in Austria. It is very impressive because of the surrounding mountains like the Kapuzinerberg and the Mönchsberg close to the Alps.

I enjoyed climbing the Kapuzinerberg where Mozart wrote his Zauberflöte, getting up to the huge fortress Hohensalzburg and strolling around the top of the Mönchsberg, where one part of the Museum der Moderne (Museum of Modern Art) can be found. And of course to have a Bosna or two: hotdogs spiced like on the Balkans. In addition you can enjoy a technical here: the city uses O-Busse, electrical busses receiving their energy from above.
