If you get to the market place in Annaberg-Buchholz, Germany (which has a good underground car park by the way) you will find the restaurant “Zum Neinerlaa” directly in the basement of the old townhall. It is a nice place we found by accident. Continue reading “Zum Neinerlaa”
Erzgebirgsstuben
When you are on top of the mountain Fichtelberg in Oberwiesenthal, Germany it is your safe harbour that rescues you from the cold temperatures outside: the Erzgebirgsstuben. It is close to the mountain top and the station of the teleferic. Continue reading “Erzgebirgsstuben”
Schnitzelschmiede
I love German motorway 38 because it brings me very fast from the center (Kassel, Göttingen) to the East (Leipzig, Dresden). It has been built after the German reunification and it has only one drawback to me: the number and position of motorway service areas. Continue reading “Schnitzelschmiede”
Mangal‘s Kitchen
The Mangal’s Kitchen is a fine Indian restaurant in Hannover, Germany – close to the Lister Meile. It has a nice room with beautiful and unobtrusive decoration, hand-made naan bread and great lamb and chicken dishes; but there are also vegetarian alternatives. Continue reading “Mangal‘s Kitchen”
A break at Pamukkale
The Pamukkale is my favorite kebab restaurant in Hann. Münden, Germany. Named after the famous region in Turkey the small eatery serves traditional döner. It doesn’t look too beautiful from the outside but the owner is very friendly and there are comfortable seats like in a US diner. Continue reading “A break at Pamukkale”
Mercado da Ribeira
The Mercado da Ribeira is a market hall near the Cais de Sodré in Lisboa, Portugal. From the 19th century on fish, vegetables and fruits are traded here. In the western section of the market you can find the Time Out Market – a large food court with many food options. Continue reading “Mercado da Ribeira”
Linha d‘áqua
When walking through a city like Lisboa, Portugal you’ll need a drink and a snack now and then. We found the restaurants in museums to be a good place for that, but one of the simplest, nicest and cheapest eateries was the Linha d’áqua.
Cervejaria Portugalia
We came to the Cais de Sodré in Lisboa, Portugal as it is supposed to be a good area at the river Tejo with many restaurants. As it was winter most locations were closed and we found a high-quality seafood restaurant – but we had the feeling of being underdressed. Continue reading “Cervejaria Portugalia”
Burgeria
Burger bars are popping up like mushrooms throughout Germany. Some are really good, most are worth a visit and offer a good concept but are like food trucks with a stable location. The Burgeria in Göttingen, Germany is located in the Jüdenstraße close to party hotspots like the Wilhelmsplatz. Continue reading “Burgeria”
Knights of the black pudding
The Feinkostfleischerei Schumann (also known as Ritter der Rotwurst) is one of the things making living in Hann. Münden, Germany great. It is a butcher’s shop with a French bistro and a restaurant in the pedestrian zone close to the old town hall.
