Jardin des Plantes

Jardin des Plantes, Paris

The Jardin de Plantes de Paris, France is a botanical garden in the center of the city. It always reminds me of Rainer Maria Rilkes poem The Panther – subtitled “in the Jardin de Plantes de Paris“. It is a nice place to hang out in the busy city. Continue reading “Jardin des Plantes”

Impression soleil levant

Metro, Paris

I consider the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, France a hidden pearl. I love French Impressionism but I never heard about it. It is located a bit remote close to the Bois du Bologne and was opened in 1934 in the villa of the Marmottan family.

Panthéon, Paris

The Panthéon in Paris, France is the hall of fame of the grande nation. It was built as a church from 1764 on and was turned to non-religious use after the French Revolution. The Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, France is a wonderful museum for impressionist art close to the river Seine. You’ll find it in the Jardins des Tuileries close to the Place de la Concorde. The building was finished in 1852 as a classic orangery for protecting plants. Continue reading “Les Nymphéas”

Musée Rodin

Musée Rodin, Paris

The Musée Rodin is one of my favorite art museums in Paris, France. It displays the works of Auguste Rodin and dates back to 1919. You can find important works like the Penseur (the thinker), Les Bourgeois de Calais or the gate to hell here.

Dom St. Salvator zu Fulda

St. Salvator, Fulda

The Dom St. Salvator is the roman-catholic cathedral of Fulda, Germany. It was built from 1704 on and was inaugurated in 1712. The cathedral is a beautiful church easily reachable from the train station: just walk down the hill through the pedestrian zone and at the university square turn right. You can’t miss this giant house of prayer built in Baroque style.
