What does a home-sick Bavarian do in Berlin, Germany? He checks out one of the many Bavarian restaurants in town – maybe the best can be found on the Gendarmenmarkt: the “Augustiner“. A place for good beer and a German specialty: knuckle of pork; delicious but nothing for a diet. Try the “Edelstoff“, a good beer served after 6pm. Continue reading “Bavarian safe-harbour”
Pho Vang
Well, the restaurant Pho Vang in Kassel, Germany is a place I would never stop at because of the outside of the building. But in fact it is a very good place for a Vietnamese lunch in the city center of Kassel, close to the Ständeplatz. Continue reading “Pho Vang”
Rani Dharba
Just a plain and simple Indian eatery on the main road leading from the railway station of Göttingen, Germany to the city center. The Rani Dharba belongs to a very good Indian restaurant in town and serves nice Indian meals in a reduced atmosphere. Continue reading “Rani Dharba”
The Amavi
This area of Göttingen, Germany was once a black spot: the “Güterbahnhofstraße” was known for just two things – the freight terminal (including cargo-based traffic on road and rail) and the red-light district. Everything changes over time, the area was developed and one of the buildings close to the tracks has been refurbished and now hosts an Italian restaurant, bar and discotheque: the “Amavi“.

Antico & Abruzzo
You can’t overlook the hotel and Italian restaurant “Antico & Abruzzo” in Hann. Münden, Germany at night: the façade of the house located in the inner city center is beautifully enlightened and on two levels the team of Toni Angelilli serves plain but good Italian food – from antipasti over pasta to pizza. Continue reading “Antico & Abruzzo”
Letzter Heller
The tavern “Letzter Heller” (“Last haler“) is an inn and restaurant close to Hann. Münden, Germany. It is located at the place where the stream “Ilksbach” runs into the river “Werra” – today easily findable because of the hydro-electric power plant in front and the motorway and train bridge above. Continue reading “Letzter Heller”
Korean barbecue
Traditional Korean food served under red neon lights in Berlin, Germany. The restaurant ‘Kimchi Princess’ is a very well styled place to have an excellent dinner close to the Kottbusser Tor. It’s authentic and you can taste yourself through Deopbap and Bibimbap up to Korean barbecues with different ingredients. Continue reading “Korean barbecue”
Greek cuisine
We all have seen numerous Greek restaurants during our lifes. And after an endless count of Gyros portions it is always a pleasure to visit a Greek eatery which doesn’t offer this mainstream food. One of these places is the Mylos in Berlin, Germany – a wonderful restaurant with a reduced interior design in the district of Charlottenburg, not far away from the Funkturm. Continue reading “Greek cuisine”
Ethiopian home
I like Ethiopian food: the special kind of bread, the idea of putting huge plates in the center of the table for everyone to eat with his or her hands. Most often these restaurants are not designed very well inside, but that doesn’t matter, because mostly the gentle hosts make up the wonderful atmosphere. Continue reading “Ethiopian home”
Burger bar at the Ruhr
We were stranded in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany during a fair in Essen, Germany. And there is nothing more important after a stressful fair day then to have a beer and something to eat. That is why we were searching on the Internet for bars and restaurants in Mülheim – and not expecting to much. Franky’s bar popped up as a recommendation and it was worth the visit. Continue reading “Burger bar at the Ruhr”
