Salamanca, Göttingen

Named after the Spanish town Salamanca this alternative bar in Göttingen, Germany, is located in the Gartenstraße – a residential area. They serve chorizo, patatas bravas, tapas, Spanish wine and different vegan and vegetarian dishes. The location is a bit shabby as normal for left-wing sites. Not a recommendation for everyone, but a place where you might find me on a Friday evening.

Booze bar

Booze bar, Berlin

Okay, there are a lot of good bars in Berlin, Germany – but this one is special: The Booze bar in Boxhagener Straße, close to the Oberbaumbrücke in East Berlin doesn’t need a menu list. It is in the head of the barkeeper and this guarantees best guidance. They call this “Assisted drinking” and it ensures best cocktail choices.

German beer & soccer

Zum Schneider, New York

During my stay in New York the quarter and semi finals of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil where held. That is why I was looking for a bar showing the games of the German soccer team (“Die Mannschaft“, as it is called in the States). Easily I found the “Zum Schneider“, a Bavarian beergarden and restaurant in the East Village of New York.

Deck 5, Berlin

In need for some relaxation, sun and a good drink? To get away from the big city and to gain the feeling of being far away on vacation you can get on top of the multi-storey car park of Schönhauser Allee Arcaden. There you can put your feet into sand, find the perfect sunlounger and enjoy some cocktails and light snacks.
