Continue reading “Hüftengold”The “Zur Kiste” is the oldest wine bar in Stuttgart and lives up to it’s name: A tiny place for maybe 15-20 persons, only one room, but a great atmosphere. Additional to white and red wine from different vineyards of the region you can get Swabian meals like Spätzle, Fleischküchle (meat loafs) or Maultaschen (filled pasta squares).

The Neckarstadion (today also called Mercedes-Benz-Arena) is home to the VfB Stuttgart and the heart of the Neckarpark – an entertainment area within Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt where the Cannstatter Wasen (a festival in autumn) takes place and you can find various concert halls and museums.

A museum I visit quite frequently is the Städel Museum at the Frankfurter Museumsufer – directly opposite to the city center, next to the river Main. The Städelsche Kunstinstitut und Städtische Galerie (correctly named) houses 3.000 paintings, 1.000 typically on exhibition.

The main railway station of Frankfurt am Main, Germany is a hub I pass pretty often. As it is a large railway station that can be confusing at first, some hints might be useful. An important characteristic is, that the station is one of few dead-end-stations of major cities in Germany; others are Stuttgart, München, Wiesbaden, Leipzig and Kiel.

Named after the Spanish town Salamanca this alternative bar in Göttingen, Germany, is located in the Gartenstraße – a residential area. They serve chorizo, patatas bravas, tapas, Spanish wine and different vegan and vegetarian dishes. The location is a bit shabby as normal for left-wing sites. Not a recommendation for everyone, but a place where you might find me on a Friday evening.
