The main square of Ljubljana, Slovenia (Prešernov trg) is in fact a circle. From there you can easily explore the main sights of Ljubljana. Close to this place you’ll find the three bridges (Tromostovje), the franciscan church (Frančiškanska cerkev), the central market and the cathedral of Ljubljana.

The town’s landmark of Ljubljana, Slovenia is situated on Zmajski most – the Dragon bridge crossing Ljubljanica river. As the legend says, Ljubljana was founded by Jason and his Argonauts who have slain a dragon here. The bridge is close to the city center and to the amusement street Trubarjeva cesta.

I arrived in Ljubljana, Slovenia by night train. Much before sunrise a Croatian railway employee woke me up, supplied me with a plastic cup of coffee and shortly before 6 am I found myself standing in front of Ljubljana main station. This obscure situation gave me the possiblity to see Ljubljana in a way, most tourists don’t get to see.

Wolfsburg, Germany is a town in lower saxony founded officially as the Stadt des ‘Kraft durch Freude’-Wagens nahe Fallersleben for only one purpose: building cars. Volkswagen, the partly state-owned enterprise tries to make the city more worth living and has therefore built the Volkswagen Arena, home to the (Volkswagen supported) Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg.

The zoological garden of Frankfurt am Main, Germany has been opened in 1858 – and is therefore the second oldest zoo in Germany. It is definitely not the most modern and best zoo, but if you’re travelling with children it is always fun. Watching the sea lions in their new territory is great!

“The cup has its own rules”, we say when talking about the cup of the German football association (DFB-Pokal). In first round of 2014, my team had to play the Fussballverein Illertissen – an amateur team of the Regionalliga Bayern, located close to Ulm. As their own stadium was too small, they rented the Donaustadium, home to the SSV Ulm.
The Parkbühne (also called “Gilde Parkbühne” after its current sponsor, a local brewery) is just another concert location in Hannover, Germany. It is plain: a stage, toilets, beer vendors and a (green)field. In summertime and with the right bands it is great to stay here.

People in Kassel typically don’t live in the city center, they build their houses in one of the numerous towns around. One of these, located north of Kassel, is Vellmar. It is easily reachable via tramway from Kassel and has a good cultural scene. Once a year they set a hugh tent onto their Festplatz and invite different artists to a festival.

Something absolutely worth being put on your list is a visit to Madison Square Garden (“The Garden“, MSG) – a stadium for different sports and a concert hall in the center of Manhattan. It names itself “The World’s Most Famous Arena“, dates back to the year 1874 and is home to the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA) and New York Liberty (WNBA).
