Los Pantalones Muertos

Die Toten Hosen’s tradition of playing in Argentina began in 1992, when they first performed in Buenos Aires. Over the following decades, Argentina became almost a second home for the Düsseldorf band: they made 16 visits, played more than 45 concerts in 12 cities, and appeared everywhere from legendary clubs and concert halls to festivals and stadiums. Their connection with Argentine audiences grew into something far more personal than a normal touring relationship, shaped by shared enthusiasm for football, punk rock and long nights over asado and wine.

I had always wanted to be part of this remarkable tradition myself. So, when the band announced its last and final Argentine tour, ‘Fútbol, Asado, Vino y Adiós Amigos‘, for October 2026, I immediately booked my flights. The title captured the spirit of the connection perfectly: music, friendship, football and the unmistakable atmosphere of Argentina. It was not simply another concert trip, but the chance to witness the closing chapter of a relationship that had begun more than three decades earlier.

The tour began on October 5th, 2026 at Club Unión y Progreso in Tandil, where Die Toten Hosen were joined by Feine Sahne Fischfilet and Katarro Vandaliko. On October 7th, the tour moved to Rosario and the L2 Arena (formerly Bioceres Arena), with Feine Sahne Fischfilet and Zona 84 providing support. Rosario held particular significance in the band’s history, as it was the first Argentine city outside Buenos Aires that they visited.

The final concert took place on October 10th at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires. Feine Sahne Fischfilet and Cadena Perpetua supported the band on that emotional closing night, bringing the Argentine farewell to an end in the city where the story had started. After travelling across the country with Campino and Monchi, experiencing three very different concert settings, I felt enormously privileged to have finally taken part in this tradition – and to have been there for its last goodbye.
