I was looking for a hotel in Köln, Germany not too far away from the main railway station. As there seemed to be a fair in the city prices were up and I had to search a bit – and then the Catholic church came to rescue. The Erzbistum Köln operates a nice guest house just ten minutes from Köln Hauptbahnhof in the city center.
The rooms are rather small but of good quality. Attached to the guesthouse is the library, event center and administration of the local organization of the church. It was a quiet place to stay with friendly staff. If you need to reach public transport: the Appellhofplatz station is only 600 meters away but the path there is a bit hidden.
