Park Hotel

Park Hotel, Αθήνα, Greece

I had different hotels in Αθήνα, Greece, most of them not being special. My worst choice was the first: I booked a cheap hotel of a world wide chain in Omonia, not knowing that this is the area for prostitution and drugs. Therefore it was a real relief to check into the Park Hotel. Continue reading “Park Hotel”

Frappé metrio me gala

Frappé, Αθήνα, Greece

Maybe it is nothing special and always returning here is just a strange tradition of mine – but I like the Cafe Plaka in Αθήνα, Greece. It is located underneath the Acropolis in the nice city quarter called Plaka and it has a wonderful roof terrace. Continue reading “Frappé metrio me gala”

Iraklio International Airport, Ηράκλειο, Greece

If you want to fly to Κρήτη (Kriti, Crete), Greece, the main airport Nikos Kazantzakis (HER) is most probably your entry point. It is located 3 kilometers outside of Ηράκλειο and was opened in 1937. How to get up

Σαντορίνη, Greece

If you get to the old harbour of Σαντορίνη, Greece you’re standing at the water and looking up to the city high in the rocks. A small path leads you steadily up the hill or you can do it the easy way: rent a donkey. Continue reading “How to get up”

The Palace of Knossos

Knossos, Greece

If you are at Κρήτη (Kriti, Crete) – belonging to Greece – you might typically want to visit the biggest of the three palaces on the island; the palace of Κνωσός. It is not far away from Iraklio and a really tourist-oriented sight.

An important one

Archeological museum, Ηράκλειο, Greece

There aren’t too many museums in Ηράκλειο, Greece – but one important one: the archaeological museum is number two in Greece, after the one in Αθήνα. Until the 1960s all findings on Κρήτη (Kriti, Crete) were brought here, later regional museums were opened. Continue reading “An important one”
