Movistar Arena

The Movistar Arena is a modern indoor multi-purpose venue in Buenos Aires, located in Villa Crespo near Palermo. With room for roughly 15,000 spectators, it hosts major concerts, sporting events and large-scale productions, combining the atmosphere of an arena with the comfort and technical standards of a contemporary event hall.

What makes it special is the way it has become one of the city’s principal stages for international and Argentine artists. Its flexible layout, excellent sightlines and powerful sound system allow it to accommodate both spectacular arena shows and more focused concert experiences. For visitors, its location also makes it a convenient venue to reach from central Buenos Aires, although the streets can become extremely busy after a major event.

I went there for a concert by Die Toten Hosen, supported by Feine Sahne Fischfilet and Cadena Perpetua. It was the third concert of theirs I had attended in Argentina, after already seeing them in Tandil and Rosario. The Buenos Aires performance therefore felt like the culmination of a small but memorable musical journey through the country, with each venue offering a different setting and atmosphere.

After so many happy returns to Argentina, this was probably Die Toten Hosen’s final concert in the country ever. That thought gave the evening an especially emotional quality: it was not simply another gig in a large modern arena, but a farewell to a long-standing relationship between the band and its Argentine audience. The Movistar Arena provided an impressive final setting for that chapter.
