The Greifvogel-Flugschau at Schloss Tirol is a bird-of-prey centre on the hillside above Dorf Tirol, where rescued wild birds are cared for and, when possible, released back into the wild. It combines a small wildlife refuge with live demonstrations, so visitors can see conservation work and flying displays in one place.

What makes it special is the setting: the centre sits on the sunny slope above Meran with wide views over the valley, which gives the birds plenty of space for the flight shows. The atmosphere feels more like a natural open-air experience than a conventional attraction, and that adds a lot to the visit.

During the demonstrations, you can watch several species in action, including eagles, vultures, falcons, owls and buzzards. The birds fly low and high over the spectators, so you get a very close impression of their size, speed and control in the air.

Inside the Pflegezentrum, visitors also learn about the birds’ lives in the wild, the dangers they face, and the protection work carried out there. In practical terms, it is both an educational stop and a memorable show, especially for anyone interested in nature, conservation and the alpine landscape around Schloss Tirol.
