The city quarter ‘Blloku‘ of Tirana, Albania is the place to be for young Albanians in the evening hours. Here you can find good bars and restaurants, next to the right places for nightlife. But that wasn’t always like this – the city quarter was during communist times reserved for the representatives and truest followers of the party (Partia e Punës e Shqipërisë, PPSH).
In the post-communist era the people took this city quarter back and brought new life there. Today it also attracts many tourists in the evening hours. I liked the Goody’s Burger House, even it is no special hint. Besides bars and restaurants there are not many highlights in the area: the tiny ZETA gallery for contemporary art, the heart tunnel (which isn’t as beautiful as the one at Verona, Italy) and the former villa of dictator Enver Hoxa.
