Elbufer

Most tourists go to the Landungsbrücken at Hamburg, Germany to get some hanseatic flair. If you’re looking for a good alternative just go to the Fähranleger Neumühlen by ship or car. Then you can have old ships at a harbour, moving container cranes, the river Elbe, giant sea vessels, a sandy beach, bars and rolls with fresh fish.

Directly at the boat stop there is the Museumshafen Övelgönne where you can see different ships, cranes, a small lighthouse and other nautic stuff. On the other side of the river Elbe you can watch the container terminals where the big ships or loaded and unloaded. A lot of hustle and bustle!

If you continue a bit to the northwest a beach starts and attached to it you will find a bar where you can have drinks or some fresh fish. If you get by car there: next to the Museumshafen you will find a small paid car park to leave your vehicle. Geek side note: this place is directly above the Elbtunnel where the motorway passes under river Elbe.
