The Isle of Skye is the biggest island of the Inner Hebrides in Scotland. Guide books label it as the most interesting sight of the country. The island contains many archaeological findings, rough mountains, medieval castles and nice landscapes. Capital of the island is the city of Portree.
The Isle of Skye is connected to the mainland by ferries, trains only go to Kyle of Lochalsh. In 1995 the Skye Bridge was opened in addition – you can now get over easily by car. On your way you can visit the Eilean Donan Castle in Dornie. We didn’t have enough time to visit the most interesting areas in the far north – but getting to Skye is a nice trip.
