Costa del Sol Airport (AGP)

The airport of Málaga, Spain is the most important entry point for the whole Costa del Sol region – especially for the cities Marbella and Málaga. It has been opened in the year 1919 and it is a hub for 13 million passengers a year with flights to 60 different countries. It is the number 4 airport of Spain, directly after Madrid, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.

If you arrive here you’ll be guided from the baggage claim area directly to the car rental section one floor below. Many rental companies are situated here because you can explore Andalucía best by car. The multi-storey car park is very close to the terminal. At the airport I had to wait quite long – 45 minutes – to check in my luggage and others must have been waiting even longer. This was due to the fact that I was leaving with a big aircraft and many passengers wanted to pass by the same time. All in all the airport is hassle-free.
