Crossing the Black Forest

The Black Forest (“Schwarzwald“) in Germany is a legend: because of the original cuckoo clocks, the special and very tasty ham and the strange outfits the natives wear on public holidays. And it is a very interesting landscape you can best enjoy from the coaches of the “Schwarzwaldbahn” – a railway crossing the Black Forest.

The Schwarzwaldbahn starts in Offenburg, Germany where you can change from ordinary long distance trains to this local traffic railway. It then runs through woods and along canyons through this wonderful forest. After reaching Villingen-Schwenningen the tracks get normal and flat again and end in Konstanz at the Lake Constance – another good destination.
