Turkish bazaar

The Kapalı Çarşı in Istanbul, Turkey is better known as the Grand Bazaar – a vast roofed market with many legends surrounding it. You can easily get lost in the long narrow streets with mostly cheap goods. It consists of 61 covered streets with around 3000 shops and it has been built from the year 1455 on in the district of Fatih.

To reach the Grand Bazaar you’ll simply have to follow the main road from Sultanahmet for 1 kilometer to the west. Traded goods include jewells, gold, leather, furniture and carpets. 26.000 people work here and up to 400.000 visitors are expected on a daily basis. It’s a place you have to see, but I myself prefer the much smaller spice market close to the Galata bridge.
