German cities need to have a Stadthalle, an event hall for concerts and other cultural events. People in smaller towns often have a special connection to these places as they go there multiple times in live and especially graduation ceremonies take place within. This also true for the Stadthalle of Northeim in southern Lower Saxony – their local pearl was build in the 90s gives space for up to 700 spectators.

The Theater der Nacht (“theatre of the night”) is a puppet theatre in Northeim, Germany. It has its special atmosphere as it is located within an old fire station which received a magical appearance. Every detail in the building and especially in the fire hose drying tower is well designed. The theatre does plays for children and for adults and has to be booked in advance – only 99 seats are available. Continue reading “No strings attached”
Nörten-Hardenberg, Germany is a small town with 8.000 souls close to my hometown Göttingen. I never visited this spot unless a good friend of mine choose to marry here at the castle ruin above the town. The ruin is simply preserved and not restored – only the old cellar room has been restored to serve as a marriage registration office. Continue reading “Castle ruin”
