The Premier Inn is a hotel at terminal 4 of the Heathrow airport in London, England. It is located next to the Hilton airport hotel and connected to terminal 4 by a footbridge. It offers good hotel rooms and as a special feature it has its own Costa coffee bar in the basement.
While travelling I experienced many tough situations – but not a single one was as complicated as coming back from Edinburgh to Germany this time. On Saturday British Airways experienced an electricity outage at their data center resulting in massive IT problems. Therefore most flights from Heathrow and Gatwick couldn’t start. Some years ago I started the tradition to not be at home on New Year’s Eve – I was always travelling with friends. This year we had only two and a half days and when I asked for the perfect destination, the answer of my fiancée was short and fast: London. There are some well-known places for fireworks on New Year’s Eve: Paris, France and the Champs-Élysées; Sydney, Australia and its world-famous opera house or the ball drop at the Times Square in New York, United States. The national dish of Great Britain is a working class street food. Fried battered fish (often plaice, haddock or cod) combined with chips – the British version of French Fries, more soft and thick. High caloric, delicious and served in small shops around all of the United Kingdom. A must-eat.
When J. K. Rowling published her award-winning Harry Potter books she gave a new meaning to the King’s Cross railway station in London, United Kingdom. Students of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry take the steam engine Hogwarts Express from platform 9 3/4 of King’s Cross station.
