Castel Sant’Elmo

Castel Sant'Elmo, Napoli, Italy

The Castel Sant’Elmo is a fortress in Napoli, Italy located on a high mountain (the Vomero) and therefore it is maybe the best viewpoint in the city. It was built in 1329 and was used from 1860 to 1952 as a military prison. Since 1982 it is open to the public. Continue reading “Castel Sant’Elmo”

Second largest

Cristo Redentore, Maratea, Italy

It’s like with the second man on the moon. Everybody knows the Cristo Redentore in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – but did you know that the second largest Jesus Christ statue is located in Maratea, Italy? Heart of the revolution

Völkerschlachtdenkmal

Völkerschlachtdenkmal, Leipzig

The Völkerschlachtdenkmal is a memorial in the southeast of Leipzig, Germany. It commemorates the Völkerschlacht at Leipzig in 1813 – with 600000 soldiers one of the biggest battles in history. Auerbachs Keller, Leipzig

Auerbachs Keller is the second oldest and most famous wine bar in Leipzig, Germany. It is located within the Mädlerpassage and was first mentioned in 1438 CE. From 1765 to 1768 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe studied in Leipzig and got to know the wine bar.

Olympic stadium

Olympic stadium, Αθήνα, Greece

Olympic games belong to Greece, for sure. The last ones held in Αθήνα, Greece were in 2004. You can find two important stadiums for the Olympic games in the city: the modern Spyros Louis for the last games and the old Panathinaiko stadium (“Kallimarmaro“) for the games in 1896.

If you like to go shopping in Αθήνα, Greece the main pedestrian street, the Ermou, might be your first choice. It is 1,5 kilometers long and connects Syntagma square with Monastiraki. But when I was there a relevant number of shops was empty. Continue reading “Ermou”
