The Mercado da Ribeira is a market hall near the Cais de Sodré in Lisboa, Portugal. From the 19th century on fish, vegetables and fruits are traded here. In the western section of the market you can find the Time Out Market – a large food court with many food options.
You can taste lots of different drinks and meals and enjoy them at long tables in the center of the hall. It is an enormous variety making it hard to choose but you can always also try small portions. The hardest job is to find a place at a table. Maybe we arrived simply at the wrong point in time.
We decided to sit down in the slow food section in the rear part were you can watch the chefs cooking in front of you. We sat down at a surf and turf restaurant serving crazy combinations of seafood and meat. Not a cheap experience but a very nice one! And for me who is not the biggest fish/seafood lover it was the perfect combination.
