I was once before at the Keukenhof in Lisse, The Netherlands (as a tourist guide) but as I couldn’t even remember the year and as I was so close in Noordwijkerhout I decided to get there again. The Keukenhof is a large botanical garden prepared for masses of tourists.
It was created in 1949 as a flower show and it is really crowded when the vast fields of tulips are in full blossom. On the 32 hectares you can find 2500 trees and 4.5 million tulips. There are also 150 sculptures making it the biggest sculpture park of the Netherlands.
There is also a Japanese garden and a playground for children. The park is open for eight weeks a year (attracting 800.000 visitors in that time) and the best point in time is mid April.
