Not built in a day

I had the chance to get to Roma, Italy as I received a call for a scientific conference in the outskirts of the city. The conference was held at the Aran Mantegna Hotel whose location didn’t allow too much sightseeing during my stay. Therefore I switched to the Hotel Fiori close to the Foro di Traiano afterwards.

I used my time to walk trough the Colosseo, sat down on the Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti, made a visit to the Stadio olimpico where Germany won the world championship in 1990, climbed on top of the Castel Sant’Angelo and discovered the Foro romano.

I made an excursion to the ancient harbour of Ostia, walked through the fascist architecture of EUR, enjoyed the Bioparco and the Galleria Borghese. I continued my visit with the Pantheon and the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna.

For sure I also went to the Civitas Vaticana and took a look at San Pietro, the Musei Vaticana and especially at the wonderful Sistine Chapel. And as I threw a coin over my shoulder into the Fontana di Trevi I can be sure to return to Roma sometime in the future.
