Blue grotto

One of the natural highlights of Malta! I would say you haven’t been on Malta if you haven’t explored the blue grotto by boat. It is a cave system with clear blue water and high rocks above you. You can enter boats at a natural harbor (Wied iż-Żurrieq) belonging to the city of Qrendi and the tour guides will take you on the Mediterranean Sea around the rocks to and through the cave system.

You can go by car down to the harbor and park it close to the Torri Xutu tower. Then it is only a short walk down to the boats – buy your ticket (adults: eight Euros) at a booth upfront. Then you’ll be perched into a boat with eight other persons, and you’ll be equipped with a lifejacket. Boats leave very frequently, and you don’t have to wait long, even in off-season. Enjoy a 25 minute long trip over the sea and into the caves!

P. S.: Don’t confuse the blue grotto with the blue lagoon, that’s a well-known bay on the island of Comino.
