Markthalle Neun

At the end of the 19th century, 14 market halls were created in Berlin, Germany. One of these is the Markthalle Neun and you can still see the ancient structures of the building. Formerly you could buy all kinds of food at around 300 market stands. Usage declined over time but then a new concept was found: in addition to a low-cost discounter, the market hall now contains many stands for regional, fair-trade and organic food.

But that is not all, you can also buy different household articles and there is a section with different stalls offering food and drinks. There are not too many seats but if you get one you can have a nice dinner or lunch. Sometimes there is a special market for sweets, sometimes you can find more street food – and once a year they host a cheesecake contest. Markthalle Neun is located at the city quarter Kreuzberg between the streets Muskauer Straße, Wrangelstraße, Eisenbahnstraße and Pücklerstraße.
