Tear down this wall

Little Big City Berlin is a miniature world telling the history of Berlin, Germany. It is located in the basement of the Fernsehturm (entrance on the back side) and I was a bit unsure whether this is a good place to visit. That was mostly because they have a too good marketing concept which made me suspicious.

And the exception reminded me much of these SEALife aquarium exhibitions I’m not a big fan of. After an introduction film you get into the main hall and a path leads you through history: from the beginning of the city through industrialization, the golden 20s, the Nazi times to World War II and the separation into two cities.

They use a lot of projections, animations and effects. In the end you can push down three sections of the Berlin wall and David Hasselhoff starts singing Looking for freedom. Our kid loved it and I found it interesting even though I didn’t learn too much new. It’s the fast food of history. At least the pictures made of the visitors here and the shop are much better than the ones in the Fernsehturm.
