As we wanted to see the Auto- und Technikmuseum at Sinsheim and the Technikmuseum at Speyer I was looking for an away home close to Heidelberg and stumbled open the Schilderhäuschen – a 400 years old half-timbered house in Neckargemünd, Germany.
It is maybe the funniest building I‘ve ever slept in. Not very wide but with three levels. In the basement the owner has his business and the two upper levels form the away home. If you don‘t mind narrow staircases it is a great place to be.
The house is located 100 meters away from river Neckar and you can park your car directly at the water (you receive a parking permittance). Close to the Schilderhäuschen you‘ll find a bakery and some restaurants; the supermarket is on the other side of the river.
Not too far away there is also the railway station of Neckargemünd with good connections to Heidelberg and Sinsheim. The flat has a kitchen and a living room on the first floor and two separated bedrooms on the second floor.
