The botanical garden of Jena, Germany belongs to the university and is located very close to the city center. It is the second oldest botanical garden in Germany and covers 4.5 hectares. It contains 12.000 plants outside and within multiple greenhouses.
The tropical plants are a good place to escape the cold of the winter. Within the greenhouses you can find succulents and water lilies – the latter are within a pond of piranhas. There are also some small frogs jumping around between the palms.
